WhatsApp Rolls Out New Group Call Features
Schedule Group Calls in Advance
With the new call scheduling feature, users can now set a date and time for a group call directly from the Calls tab. By tapping the “+” icon and selecting Schedule Call, you can pick the time, date, and choose between an audio or video call. This makes planning discussions with friends, family, or colleagues much more seamless.
Once scheduled, participants can be invited individually or through groups. A shareable call link can also be generated and added to personal calendars for convenience. WhatsApp automatically sends reminders to all attendees, ensuring nobody misses the call.
Better Call Management
The Calls tab now displays a list of all upcoming calls along with the confirmed participants. Notifications are sent to attendees shortly before the call starts. If someone joins using a shared link, organizers receive a notification — making it easier to keep track of late arrivals.
Interactive Participation Tools
WhatsApp has also introduced new features to improve group discussions:
- Hand Raise: Participants can now “raise their hand” during a call, signaling that they want to speak without interrupting the ongoing conversation.
- Emoji Reactions: Users can react in real time with emojis, allowing quick responses like agreement, laughter, or applause without disrupting the flow of the discussion.
Privacy Remains a Priority
Even with these new features, end-to-end encryption continues to protect all personal calls on WhatsApp. This ensures that only the participants have access to the conversation, maintaining privacy and security.
Global Rollout
The latest group call update is currently being rolled out worldwide and will reach all WhatsApp users in the coming days. With these changes, WhatsApp aims to make group communication more structured, interactive, and enjoyable.
